Went to Nogales again for teeth #2-4. Tooth #4 is looking like it might be on its last legs... it sounds like I should brace myself for an eventual root canal ... hopefully it's 5-10 years down the road though. *fingers crossed*
jinxalexander took me to a local thrift store and I found a nifty pair of Doc Martins (for $10, woo!) to wear to Tucson's newest club night, Sanctuary. I had unfortunately forgotten all my club clothing at camp, so she loaned me an awesome plaid corset, skirt, fishnets, and even bra, and it looked super hot. Unfortunately, I am not accustomed to wearing a Victorian corset, much less dancing in one, so I wasn't able to stay on the floor for very long, and by the end of the night the corset had been loosened to over a 6" gap in the back and I still couldn't breathe well, so we called it an early night and here I am posting this at midnight.
But enough about my clothes, what was Sanctuary like?
Location: Sports on Congress is, typical for Tucson it seems, rather on the small side. It has two rooms: the first with the dance floor, far too many chairs for gawkers, and the DJ über alles; and the second room had the bar, pool table, and, as the name implies, TVs with sports games on.
Music: I greatly enjoyed the music, it was all the type of stuff I enjoy with a good amount of synthpop, ebm, and other such. Some I recognized, some I didn't, and some I could identify. The dance floor was rather small, but certainly bigger than Homme in Phoenix.
Cover/Drink specials: Cover was $5, with half going towards the Humane Society. I didn't ask about any specials per se, but I paid $3.50 per drink, which is pretty decent, imo.
Attendees: Seemed to be "the local crowd," everyone was friendly, it didn't feel like a "big event," though there were plenty of folks in attendance (by the time we left it was downright crowded) and there were people on the dance floor all night long.
So all in all, I think Sanctuary was a good night. I won't be able to make any more nights, but it was good to experience someplace different, do something different (ie, corset, show more of my legs), and I think I had a good balance of dance-floor focus and trying to socialize a little. I do wish that dance floor was less in the general traffic lanes though.
