Went to Nogales again for teeth #2-4. Tooth #4 is looking like it might be on its last legs... it sounds like I should brace myself for an eventual root canal ... hopefully it's 5-10 years down the road though. *fingers crossed*

[livejournal.com profile] jinxalexander took me to a local thrift store and I found a nifty pair of Doc Martins (for $10, woo!) to wear to Tucson's newest club night, Sanctuary. I had unfortunately forgotten all my club clothing at camp, so she loaned me an awesome plaid corset, skirt, fishnets, and even bra, and it looked super hot. Unfortunately, I am not accustomed to wearing a Victorian corset, much less dancing in one, so I wasn't able to stay on the floor for very long, and by the end of the night the corset had been loosened to over a 6" gap in the back and I still couldn't breathe well, so we called it an early night and here I am posting this at midnight.

But enough about my clothes, what was Sanctuary like? breakdown of different aspects )

So all in all, I think Sanctuary was a good night. I won't be able to make any more nights, but it was good to experience someplace different, do something different (ie, corset, show more of my legs), and I think I had a good balance of dance-floor focus and trying to socialize a little. I do wish that dance floor was less in the general traffic lanes though.

I went to the spin jam last night. It was very neat. It's held at the Four Seasons Dance Studio just off of Loring Park. There were a good 40+ people there, ranging from high school kids to someone who might have been in his 40s. It started with a circle, cleansing (much needed!), singing bowls and sage. The front room had a DJ spinning club-type music, and that's where all the toys were... poi, staves, diablos, crystal stix (genaric name?), a few juggling clubs and hula hoops. Only one person had a sphere for contact juggling, alas, and wasn't anywhere near proficient with it. The back room was where the drum jam was... I'm not a drummer, so I can't really evaluate it, but they did have someone chanting (no idea who, the room was packed).

One person recognized me from Drivers Ed at Central, which is neat, and another person there looked just like Twig's little sister! I did ask her, and she's not related, but it was pretty cool nonetheless. She did know who Twig Thistlebottom is, having been to Fest last year.

I just got back from the U of M dental clinic. Full X-rays and an exam for $120. It looks like I'll have 3 or 4 cavities, but I won't know for certain until my next appointment in September (when the students get back from break).

My car got "broken into" yesterday. Or the day before that. Or the day before that. Maybe even the day before that. I'm not going to report it, because all that's missing are my CDs (the majority of them were mp3 discs, the ones I'll miss most are my Asleep by Dawn disc and my Rogues live album) and my $10 car kit. Ooh, I'm scared. It looks like they rifled through my glove compartment (they didn't shut it all the way), and thought about taking my prescription sunglasses (again, the case wasn't fully closed). Yay for not locking my car doors!

I finally found my planner again, so hopefully I'll get my life in order.

Saturday was a horrible, horrible, day for me, so in desperation I actually went out and bought St John's Wort. I'm hoping that will help matters too.

I didn't go to Convergence... I was feeling damn near paranoid about interacting with people (in person) - the one time I left the house this weekend I went "in disguise:" baggy layers, and a baseball cap with my hair all tucked inside it, so as to try and circumvent people from hitting on me, or even talking to me unnecessarily. My being crazy at the time probably helped.

*fingers crossed*

[livejournal.com profile] xjere? [livejournal.com profile] gypsyjez? [livejournal.com profile] unknownpoet78? I don't know how you did it, but I know it was one of you! How did you manage to pass on your illnesses through the internet? I thought the human body was immune to computer-borne viruses!

*laughs*

Heh, that makes me feel slightly better. Just joking, in case it wasn't obvious. But seriously, I probably caught this from [livejournal.com profile] socraticlaughtr, since he's the only person I know here who's been sick... My glands are swollen and tender, and I'm coughing a bit. No temperature though, yay. I'm going to venture out to Safeway today and make a *huge* batch of chicken noodle soup, and pick up the OJ that [livejournal.com profile] unknownpoet78 recommended. Or some variety of OJ, anyway.

Josh? Does this sound like what you have? I want to know if I should brace myself for 3 weeks of illness.

Well, I quit the health club today.

Ranting cut for everyone's sanity... )

The good news is I finally got most of the cry out that's been building up for the last year or so... none of the really unpleasant stuff, but I at least got a good portion of it, the face-scrunchy stuff and snot-running-down-the-face crap. I suppose it's better over some stupid trivial thing like a sauna than while coping with new-relationship stress, or even something embarrassing like a sappy movie. *laughs*

... in case it isn't obvious, the bad news is that I had such a crappy start to my day that it resulting in my quitting the health club.

So, Saturday sucked ass... )

However, in all fairness, Sunday was much better, even though it was too hot (high 80s). I saw lots of people and danced lots and (as usual) had no idea how to react when people came on to me.

Oh, and I completely forgot it was National Talk Like a Pirate Day. dammit.

I will post lots of happy news about the circuit at some point, and one friend kindly told me I'm a little vague on a number of details he'd like to know (such as what Faires I'll be doing, etc...). Anyone have any questions for me?
