So, I lied....
Nov. 18th, 2004 10:25 amOk, so maybe I won't get the new car after all...
The weather down here is pretty questionable, lots of rain and flooding and all that, so I was mentally preparing for a trip marked by lots and lots of pulling-off-the-road-to-wait-for-the-rain-to-stop, which was going to suck. So, I called the auto-body place and asked how much it would cost to just make my car functional so I myself could install headlights, and the quote for that was $200. So, I called a few scrapyards and picked up 2 headlights, my driverside directional light (and wiring), a grille, and the radiator hose for $175. No tax. Yay for paying cash. They are straightening out my front end as I write.
So... yeah.... I'd prefer to keep my nice little Corolla that hasn't even hit 100,000 miles yet, because she should last me another 100,000, provided I don't fuck up any more and get into any more accidents. I like her. And really, $400 to get home, versus a $10,000 car loan? I don't know... Maybe I'll change my mind later (again), but I'd like to keep her.
Oh, my get-home itinerary:
Leave TRF: Fri, Nov 19, by Noon.
Arrive Cleburne: Fri, by 6 pm.
Leave Cleburne: Monday, Nov 22, end of morning rush hour
Arrive St Paul: Tuesday night, ideally. Possibly Wednesday morning.
