more car stuff
Jan. 2nd, 2007 02:03 pmThis morning I went to a pick-your-own auto salvage yard, and finally replaced the driverside turn lamp that I damaged two years ago, just before I came to Arizona for the first time. I got the last lamp left, woo!
I also did some minor electrical work! At some point in the recent past I must have ripped out the wiring that goes to my liscense plate lights when I was pulling something out of my truck, and I was able to replace that also. Thankfully there were two Corollas with the same part, because while I was trying to pull the first one, I broke it in the same way I did on my car. Total cost for parts: $8.13.
Now I need to figure out why my battery light is coming on again. The alternator and battery tested fine yesterday, so if removing the mysterious goopy stuff from the alternator's electrical socket doesn't fix the problem, I'll have to bring it in to a mechanic for diagnostics. Maybe when they fix the electrical, they'll also be able to get my engine temperature gauge and horn to work again. But if those aren't on the way, I can live without them. (My car knows when it's overheating, 'cause the fan still kicks in, but it isn't sharing that info with me.)
Oh, the muffler is on the list too. But that is relatively minor.
