Last week, I went to Home Depot and made a raccoon trap. I didn't bait it until this week, because I didn't want to have to deal with a raccoon on a workday, or during Bizarre. So on Wednesday, I caught a 'coon! It turned out to be pretty small, maybe a year old or so, so my friend-with-a-gun decided it would be best to just let it loose a few miles from site. The little guy was freaked out, and we spent a minute having to shake him out of the trap so he'd go away. And actually, now that I know a place just a few miles away to release them (instead of the state forest 24 miles and 50 minutes away), that greatly decreases the likelihood that hippies will be eating 'coon stew in the near future.

At this last Bizarre I bought a set of glow poi, and spent a few days playing with them. I was having trouble working on behind-the-back forward three-beat weaves though, so I switched back to my fire poi, and they felt sooo incredibly heavy! So I still prefer my fire poi - it's a lot easier to spin slowly with heavier poi.

Yesterday one of my friends had to leave town on an emergency errand, so I covered her shift at the Copper Rose slinging beers. It was pretty fun, and I made some tips, which was awesome.

I'm back to reading Fritz Stern's "Five Germanys I Have Known." I've been trying to find his op-ed piece "Attacks on the 'L-Word' Debase Us All" to link here, but it doesn't seem to exist on the internet. So instead I am linking this article, 'cause I can. And I really really like how so many people on my friends list have posted the sentiment that even though Obama won the election, there's still more to do.
