Dr Horrible labcoat
Jan. 7th, 2009 07:09 pmI've pretty much reached the point on the lab coat where I need to have a different machine (I'm using an old singer, and the base is too big for cuffs) or move to hand-sewing the button holes. Overall, I'm pretty pleased, with a couple notable exceptions: I think it's just a bit too big, and I don't like the drape of the fabric. I'm going to have to wait on my final decision regarding the size after all the buttons are done and I've washed it a couple times, but then, it is really only draft 2. I just want it to be perfect before I start on the linen. Even though I know it's already better than Irongate's (and comparable to Shadowdale's.
Other things:
socraticlaughtr had an awesome suggestion for the pocket embroidery. I think maybe the collar is a little too high. I might also cut an inch from the underflap-thingy. I'm also going to try making the pleats a little bigger. Shortening the top shoulder seam (and the resulting adjustments all round) might be just the thing to getting it to look right - I guess my shoulder's aren't as broad as Neil Patrick Harris'. And I need to snip all these little threads!

And three more pictures here. Dammit, I just realized I don't have a full length view, or a close up of the cuffs, or side buttoning area. Ah well, something to keep in mind for tomorrow when there's light.
edit: Oh yeah, it's all about shortening the shoulders! Woot!
