violence at Thrill Kill
May. 12th, 2009 12:20 pmLast night I went to the My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult concert at the Granada Theater. The theater is a beautiful venue, with artwork on the walls and ceilings. I greatly enjoyed the first opening act, Chant, who was just one guy with a shitton of drums fanned across the entire stage. Apparently he was less animated than usual last night, having injured his leg at an event in Austin last weekend.
Thrill Kill was ... interesting. I don't think I need to go see them next time they tour though. The vocals weren't very clear (may partially have been due to the venues sound system), and Thomas (?) could have definitely interacted with the crowd better. I was actually hoping for a Church-of-Satanist rant, but the closest he got to that was "Remember, you are god" between the third and fourth songs. So, next time I'm feeling a desire to jam out to TKK, I'll just turn up the volume on my player.
The most awesome thing that happened last night was that I punched a punk in the face! It took a few minutes for him to talk me into it ("Come on, what do I have to do? Call you a slut?") but one of my friends gave me her lighter and I punched him three times with my right hand and twice with the left.
