Yesterday, acting on a bit of intelligence I had received, I stopped by the fire pit. An older hippie had somehow driven his truck into the pit, and at the time I arrived, about 10 people were standing in the back of the truck to see if they could leverage it out with their weight. That wasn't working, so the campground director had everyone get out, and they instituted Plan 2. Several people climbed into the pit to push, while a diesel tried to pull the truck out. The first try wasn't successful, so the owner of the truck straightened his wheels, and put the truck into reverse while the owner of the diesel removed himself from the axle-deep rut he'd put himself into. For the second try there were only four people pushing on the front of the truck, but with the added horsepower of the stuck truck itself, and solid ground for the diesel, the truck was successfully extracted! The old hippie was very grateful, and the campground director commented that that was just like how it should be, and was in "the good old days," and the office didn't have to find out.

Settled into AZRF campgrounds. Worked a lot for two weeks, and we somehow managed to make a third of the stock for the show and get multiple days off, which is unprecedented.

I bought a small solar kit for my home. It's not very big, three 15W solar panels and two 105 amp-hour batteries. I'm still trying to figure out how to get the batteries to charge sufficiently. I seem to have a lot of phantom loads leaching my power, so even after a full day of sun I don't feel confident doing more than running one or two lights. I learned the "climate control" switch on my fridge was eating up a lot of juice, but after turning that off I'm still losing voltage, so now I have opened all my breakers and hopefully that helps.

I got some red wigglers from one of my friends, so now I can start composting. I've also picked up some basil and chives, and just planted those, so hopefully I'll be able to harvest my own herbs soon. I can go through a half ounce of basil in a month, so that will be really nice to have fresh.
