Feb. 21st, 2006 06:36 pmI had an awesome Pres. Day weekend.
On Friday, I went to the Estrella War and met my EQ guildleader who showed me some bobbin lacing, and also introduced me to her associates, who among them have a lot of pointy hats. One has been dancing for a couple decades, and I had a good conversation with her.
The Ball that evening was neat, although the musicians didn't compare to the Madison folks, alas. I met one of
eyja's friends, Conrad, and learned an awesome Icelandic dance called "Hoffin's Kinsmen." I think the folks at TRF would get a huge kick out of it, so I've told Tricia who will hopefully tell one of her friends who is trying to start a dance troupe there. I made it though Gelosia without instruction!
I found out what time it was at 11:40, and promptly fled the Ball like... Um. Cinderella. Fleeing the Ball. At midnight. *sighs* Damn metaphors. Anyway. A 70-mile drive home, and I was in bed a little after 1am.
Then at the Faire this weekend, I got to be Thea's assistant and do all the restocking and cleaning and general assistant manager-type stuff, which went pretty well. Thea likes me, and said she'd like to see me assistant managing more next year, when they hopefully have their fourth booth built when the Faire expands. I'm really excited about that, even though it means waking up pre-dawn and seeing my breath.
It appears that Her Majesty is trying to bring court dance to Arizona, so during my sole break each day I went to go watch all the pretty people learn how to dance Ballo del Fiore and other court dances. I actually think I'm going to have to avoid doing that in the future, because I just ended up feeling very melancholy that I was not able to dance. On the bright side though, I spoke with HRM at Bizarre Bazaar this morning, and she told me where to find Danserie (AZ's dance troupe) during the weekend, so hopefully I'll be able to infiltrate their ranks in the not so distant future, mwah-ha-ha-ha!
