Sep. 20th, 2004 09:29 amI woke up starving, but decided to wait until after cannon to eat, as is my wont. By the time I finally got done with morning gate and got some food in my stomach, I had cramps, and wasn't feeling too hot, so I went backstage and stripped out of costume (in itself pretty extreme, for me) and took some painkillers (ditto) and put a hot-water goblet (gotta make do with you you got) on my tummy to try and relax the muscles. After a half hour, got dressed again, and noticed something odd...
"Hey, random person. Are you cold?"
"Uh, no."
"Hrm.... Hey, random person #2, are you cold?"
"Um, no, it's mid-70s and sunny..."
"Hrm... I don't like how this sounds... Hey, random troupe member, are you cold?"
"No...."
"Well, shit. I'm sick. Dammit."
So I sucked through one performance (and someone covered Fairy Reel for me, since I knew I couldn't do it), and made my way to First Aid. No fever, but cramps and cold are a sign of heat exhaustion...
Whee. Fun. I tried doing the strip-rest-redress-perform thing for the Chess Match, but started getting cold again after 10 minutes, so I ended up taking the rest of the day off (first time ever! :-( ) and slept lots.
I missed out on the Talent Show and all sorts of Saturday night goodness, but I got lots of rest out of it, I guess...
However, in all fairness, Sunday was much better, even though it was too hot (high 80s). I saw lots of people and danced lots and (as usual) had no idea how to react when people came on to me.
Oh, and I completely forgot it was National Talk Like a Pirate Day. dammit.
I will post lots of happy news about the circuit at some point, and one friend kindly told me I'm a little vague on a number of details he'd like to know (such as what Faires I'll be doing, etc...). Anyone have any questions for me?
