The kindness of strangers
Dec. 21st, 2007 07:43 pmLeaving to go to the Solstice Drum Jam, I forgot my backpack on the roof of my car. When I stopped at the light at University and Fairview, a car pulled up in the left turn lane and honked at me, holding something up in the window. I opened up my car door (since that's easier than rolling down the window), and the guy in the passenger seat asked, "Is this yours?" I took a second look and realized he was holding up my backpack.
My thanks were inadequate at the time; my shock hadn't quite worn off by the time the light changed. So, thank you, thank you, thank you to the three people in the dark sedan who stopped to pick up my backpack when they saw it fall off my car, and then chased me down to give it back to me. It contained a notebook of irreplaceable work information from the last four months, as well as my fire poi.
Thank you. May life smile upon you.
