I spent the last three days in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. It was a successful trip - three people in one car, and it only cost each of us $105 for gas, groceries and park/camping fees. I think I prefer Grand Teton ("the Big Tit Mountains") over Yellowstone. The majority of stuff we did in Yellowstone involved geysers, hot springs, or mud pots, and it smelled really bad. On the plus side, we saw tons of wildlife in Yellowstone - a herd of elk off the road before Mammoth, as well as another herd and a buck in downtown Mammoth; and a bunch of bison scattered around in singles or small groups. However, Grand Teton was prettier, with its gorgeous mountains in the backdrop and better hiking. And we did get to see wildlife there too, when we stopped to photograph and watch a herd of bison on the east side of 191, and a herd of elk on the west. I would like to go back when there are less people there, and spend more time dedicated to just two or three specific areas.

I will post pictures eventually.

Tuesday night we stayed in a free campground in the north end of Grand Teton, and it was horrible, due entirely to the mosquito and horsefly problem. Wednesday night we stayed in the campground in Mammoth, and it was heavenly. It was entirely worth 1) $14, 2) not using the gas to drive back to the south end of the park, and 3) not taking the time as well.

Car stuff: I replaced my rear driver window last week, and damaged the door handle in the process, but it's nothing that a little epoxy won't fix. During the trip, I thought the transmission was going, but then yesterday I took a 25-mph curve at 40, and the rock came out from the undercarriage and the noise stopped.
