SphereCamp
Dec. 8th, 2009 10:30 pmWell, SphereCamp was a blast, though in retrospect I should have skipped Friday and just gone out on Saturday. I would have been in much better shape physically, and I could have stayed in my nice warm trailer during the coldest days Texas may likely get this year. But I did manage to stay warm, and have a lot of fun despite the cold. I learned some partner poi stuff, how to hula hoop at my knees, I did my first body roll, and learned how to make collapsible hula hoops. Dangit, I still can't remember the really cool thing I learned on Friday, then remembered yesterday afternoon.... I also met some of the object manipulators everyone keeps talking about (Teafaerie and Burning Dan; Adam D; and Noel, Greg and Margaret from the Vulcan Crew in San Fransisco). Of course I was able to see the Alien again, as well as some other folks I hadn't seen since AZ.
Last week I started to move into the trailer where I'll be living for the rest of my stay in Toontown (ie, the residential area by TRF). It's 21 feet long, 25 years old, and has been a stationary bachelor pad for the last several years, so after spending most of Thursday cleaning and replacing light bulbs, I threw the basics in and spent a wonderful evening enjoying a radiator-style space heater and proper walls and a ceiling. I cannot say enough how nice this setup is. I can't wait until I get my own trailer in 2011.
Tomorrow I have a lot planned. Doctors appointment, laundry, auto body repair to get my hood functional again, Home Depot, housecleaning, and finally an appointment to fit the bodice I'm making for a coworker. I'm bringing a lot of hand sewing to kill time while I'm waiting for most of that to happen.
Then this week I need to a) get better, b) finish the bodice and my mending so I can pack my garb, c) watch Dollhouse so I'm caught up with my Dollhouse-watching buddy in AZ, d) go to see Nitzer Ebb in Houston on Saturday.
