MNRF Fire 2011
Oct. 1st, 2011 08:16 pmApparently, the Fire Marshall has had a difficult time figuring out where the fire started - Scotch Eggs, or Chicken Royale. What it boils down to is, what flamed first, the chicken or the egg? (ba-da-ching!)
So, yesterday morning, about 3 hours before we were due to open for Festival Friday, the food booths nearest my booth caught on fire. The fire was out within two hours, and cannon was delayed by one hour while the entire area (quite excessively, in everyone's opinion but the Fire Marshall) was cordoned off, with barricades preventing anyone from having a line of sight on the area. 50ish booths were unable to open, but I was Super Manager and ninja and got a Safety Services escort to my location to carry out three tables and a goodly representation of my Kids Day stock to an alternate location, about two minutes before the Fire Marshall actually arrived and irately insisted that no one should be allowed near the "crime scene."
So with half our stock and no back stock (but with the repair kit of course!), we had about half the day we should have had, minus the fire, but we still managed to make my boss some money, yay! And both my workers got a full days pay!
We were open for business today as normal, and had a rocking (if dusty) day. Tomorrow is pack down, and Monday I leave for Texas!
