How I've been spending my week
Jun. 7th, 2007 02:22 pmOn Tuesday I helped ThatBallGuy undo his dreads. He has somewhere in the range of 40-50 dreads, and I got two completely undone, and he and his wife each took out about half of one each. It's definately an outside job, as there is a lot of unconnected hair that comes out. We figure that ThatBallGuy should have a full head of curly nipple-length hair by July.
Wednesday was yurt setup day. I didn't really want a yurt before, and now I can say I definately don't want a yurt ever. It's a 2+ person job, and a ladder would be absolutely necessary for a person my height. At least we got it up though, and ThatBallGuy went from ready to scratch the whole thing to pleasantly surprised at how sturdy it was. It made it through the 50 mph winds last night, so it seems to be safe to sleep in. Yay!
After we got the yurt basically set up, it was time for Feed-A-Hippie. Every Wednesday, a Larkspur church has a picnic for the rennies, and then opens their food bank to us. Last year, I went to the picnic a couple times, and not to the food bank at all, but with the rather different situation I've put myself in this year, combined with the iffy final weekend of scarby, I joined my roommates in going to the food bank, my first time since I was in single digits. It was actually kind of fun - one of the folks there was pelting us with chocolate chip cookies (best by 02-15-07, heh), and they had a bunch of pictures up of rennies who visited there from several years ago. One of the drummers had a picture up from when his dreads only went down to his shoulders - they're now down to his waist. Anyway, I picked up some canned fruit and meals in boxes, and a box of Morningstar burgers! Yum!
I've been watching a lot of movies. On Monday I saw Pirates of the Caribbean 3. On Tuesday I saw The Fountain, and it was amazingly beautiful. I highly recommend it. Then on Wednesday I finally got to see Pan's Labyrinth. It wasn't quite what I was expecting, but it was still very good, though a bit on the icky side.
Does anyone have any suggestions for online picture-hosting places? I borrowed my roommates digital camera and took some pictures of where/how I'm living, but my Yahoo account is pretty much full up.
